Summer Celebrations – Themes for the Season

Is there anything sweeter than summer? The birds are chirping, the flowers are in bloom and the sun is shining, and themed parties are hot!

I have put together a list of this years top 5 themes to help get the creativity flowing. I am absolutely in love with some of these ideas and can’t wait to see your next themed event at Sunshine.

1. Island Luau – Your guest can have a lot of fun dressing up, and a luau party is one of the best themes to get everyone in costume – without spending too much on their outfit. (your classic thrift store beach shirt will do!) Fake foliage, tropical flowers, and all things tiki are perfect decor. Have your bartenders serve up tropical drinks like pina coladas (my all time favorite) and sever up sweet and savory foods like plantains, roast pig, and lots of fruit!

2. Derby Days – An early summer classic, derby days bring out the best in everyone’s hat collection! Let your décor take a hint from old-time southern charm. Serve up some tasty mint juleps, pimento cheese and don’t forget the checkered linens and roses for your centerpieces.  

3. Summer Speakeasy – Recreate the glam and glitz of the roaring 20’s.  Give the venue the 20’s feel by using rustic wood grain, leather couches, and all things gold! Have bartenders dress the part in vests and suspenders, while serving whiskey sours and extra dry martinis.

4. Scavenger Hunt – This one is particularly good for team building and keeping kiddos busy. It’s a great way to get everyone interacting and social. Make the clues riddles to get everyone thinking. Have the bartenders serve mystery drinks and finger foods are a perfect pair for guest on the move.

5.  Underwater – Take your guest underwater! Underwater themes don’t take real fish or water either but here at Sunshine you can have the best of both worlds. Some simple blue up lighting, white decor, and seashell props can give your indoor guest the feeling of being deep in the sea, while some guest can get a splashtastic experience in our pool.
